Martin W. Novak brings more than 25 years of analytical and management experience in both the public and private sectors. While employed in the Federal government at the U.S. Treasury’s Bureau of Public Debt and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), he supervised employees, managed large projects, and used his journalism background to write reports, policies, and technical procedures. A frequent editor and author of FERC’s annual budget requests, Marty’s expertise with performance measurement led to his involvement as co-author of the Commission’s initial performance plans and reports under the Government Performance and Results Act.
Marty partnered with his wife, Bette Novak, to co-lead a monthly career planning and job search community outreach group sponsored by Marymount University from 1990 to 1998. During 2009, he collaborated with Bette to transfer their career planning and job search experience and curriculum into a new book, The Art of Career Survival: Navigating the Job Search, Even in Tough Times (2010). He is the primary author of the blog articles on www.theartofcareersurvival.com, and he supports Bette and the growing of LifePath Associates LLC.
He graduated from Kent State University, Kent, Ohio where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism
